A seamless experience, from booking to returning the car. I paid for airport pick-up and drop-off, was met at Arrivals and was driving away within 10 minutes. And the drop-off took even less time. The Dacia Sandero was a good choice, not a particularly powerful car but nevertheless it handled the steepness of Madeira's roads with ease, and was easy to park. Wouldn't hesitate to book with Stones again.

Well, probably one of the best experiences I had with a rentacar! Everything was simple and optimized. A kind man was waiting for us at the airport and there we took the car. He also picked up the car back at the airport before our flight. We communicated via WhatsApp. The car was small enough for Madeira roads, but quite potent, sporty, automatic; brand new and only 1k on the clock.Where to park (Funchal, Madeira): If you’re looking for a long-term parking spot in Funchal, there is a garage Parking Santa Luzia, open 24/7 with 4.5€ rate overnight. It’s a bit narrow, but not critical. I always found a spot, but it was much easier outside of working hours.Overall, awesome stay and great service. Easy 10/10 recommendation.
I was initially skeptical about using this company because they had nothing but positive reviews - it seemed almost too good to be true. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how communicative they were even before I picked up the car.The pickup and return process went exactly as agreed in our contract, with no surprises or hidden fees. What impressed me most was their flexibility with minor changes as long as you communicate with them well in advance.We rented an Opel Corsa 1.2 Turbo with automatic transmission, which proved to be a perfectly adequate choice for Madeira's roads. The car performed admirably with four passengers, even on steep inclines (using Sport mode was essential) and descents (the paddle shifters for downshifting came in very handy). The compact size and rear-view camera made navigating narrow streets much easier.Overall, those perfect reviews turned out to be well-deserved. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend their services.
Best car hire firm I have ever used. Ricardo delivered and collected the car to our apartment and a very easy hand over and excellent car. As promised full insurance with no holding deposit and no fuss and easy handover at the end of the hire. This is how car hire should be and the no worries policy made our holiday more relaxing and easier for me the driver. These guys are excellent!Having worked for Enterprise in the past, and hired a lot of cars before, I can certainly recommend Stones. This was probably the best and easiest car rental experience I've had. Drop off to the apartment we were staying in was bang on the time I asked and I had left it quite late notice too. The car was spotless, excellent condition and new.Once I picked up the car they even drove me to the nearest car park I was leaving it at to assist me and we're full of useful hints and tips about the island, where to go etc.Always available through WhatsApp they made collection later just as simple as the drop off. Honestly, these guys are great, don't hesitate to consider them for your car rental in Madeira. 100%.

I always find it such a headache finding the right car rental company when I travel. I came across this one by asking chat gpt - How right it was!Amazing prices to start with. They monitor your flight and are ready & waiting in the car park outside the airport arrivals. 5 minutes of talking and we were off in my car. No hidden costs, no more added onto what you paid online. They made it very clear that damages and accidents were covered and they would immediately help.When we had to give the car back, they were waiting at departures to take the car off me. Very swift. Honestly couldn't be happier with my choice and would 100% recommend and use them again. Absolutely no problems at all and very very smooth! Great car too. AMAZING.

Highly recommend based on my experience. Very easy booking process. We collected the car at the airport, their agent was waiting for us at arrivals and brought us the two min walk to the car in the airport car park. We had a Kia Stonic which was in great condition and ideal for getting around Madeira. We decided to bring back the car a couple days earlier than planned and Stones facilitated the drop off and a quick process of a refund for the days not used. Staff were nice and very easy to deal with.

Very good value and quick communication. We booked a car via the website, hoping to get one in only 1h, then phoned to confirm. They didn't have the car we requested but they provided a better car in a couple of hours. The service where they bring the car to you, and allow you to return it at the airport, is extremely useful. Would definitely use again. I'd recommend just calling them or WhatsApp instead of the website. Friendly and helpful staff too.

We had an amazing experience with Stones rent-a-car! We were suspicious of other car rentals, that were extremely cheap, and eventually figured out that they make their money with the deposit. Stones rent-a-car is not one of them! The price per day for an amazing automatic car, perfect for Madeira streets, was very reasonable. They want no deposit and the insurance is fully included. Drop-off at the airport was possible and completely unproblematic. In conclusion, Stones rent-a-car is a very professional, comfortable and trustworthy business. Would definitely recommend!!!

Awesome price and service. I took Kia Picanto and it was far better than I expected: smooth, new, usb-c port, android connected flawlessly (which is rare in my experience). Definitely enough for Madeira's mountains. No hidden costs, deposit, almost none paperwork. Had the car delivered to me, it was reasonably late (30mins or so).

Smooth transition from start to finish, the full comprehensive insurance made the whole experience worry free, we rented an Opel Corsa Automatic, car was brand new, clean, powerful enough to climb the steep hills and without any issues throughout the whole week, I highly recommend going for the smaller size like the one we rented as the roads on the island is very narrow.Pick up and drop off is straight forward, they’ll pick you up at the airport and the car will be ready at the car park just opposite the road, a quick check on your driving license and they have a card machine with them that I pay on site, brief explanation of the car details and we’re off, no upselling or any kind. They’ll WhatsApp you the day before you return the car to confirm the drop off time and the exact gps location on where to drop the car off at the airport, they’ll be waiting for you there already, a quick check at the fuel gauge and that’s it.Very glad I did my research and came across this through Reddit, reasonable prices, worry free and decent cars.10/10 will rent from them again next time!!
Stones rent a car was recommended to me by a friend and it was a blast. Nivaldo tracked our flight, so even though we had a delay I didn’t have to worry about anything - they were waiting with the car just outside the airport. The pickup was super quick and the car was new and clean. Fortunately we didn’t need any support during our holiday, but I’m sure it would be smooth and flawless. We rented an opel corsa for some 16 days a new automatic car (6131 km) with a lovely discount and full coverage. It was delivered in time and we gave it back in the airport which was also helpful. Stones appeared to be more flexible and friendly than other renting companies we met on Madeira and worldwide.

We brought in an almost new Opel, 1.5 petrol. We traveled around the entire island, taking the steepest ascents and descents with a bang. In this area, you should only take an automatic rifle with a recoil function.

Awesome!!! Recommended and reliable 100% without deposit!!! No waiting!!! We asked for the car at the airport and when we left we left it there too, without long paperwork, without queues, without the need for a credit card, all in 5 minutes we had the new car and we left the airport seeing the lines of people in the typical companies airport rental with desperate people... without having to take photos of the vehicle worried that later they will say that you have done something to it... comprehensive insurance! Unlimited kilometers, a real wonder! And the guy who helped us in person (Nevaldo) was charming, practical, friendly and fast, if you want a good vacation, rent here, the best thing we did!

Very great friendly and helpful people, cheap prices with insurance included (comparing with other rental companies there), no young driver age extra fee.First day we got other car than we should get (just different color and plate number), so they apologized and we droped off and switched wrong car for right one. We didn't have to fill up half a tank with petrol even though we drove car whole day. They said it wasn't our mistake and made this great gesture as apology. I hope they stay this good in future and they don't turn into 1 star companies like 7...M :D They even offered me free ride to my hotel, so I didn't need to walk, but I didn't want to waste their time.I will definitely rent from them, if I come back to Madeira in future. The smoothest car rental ever. This is great company. Prices as per reservation in internet site. We was met at airport and car was collected there as well. Car was Opel Crossland. It lacks a bit power on steap slopes but the SUV type compensates it. The rental process was smooth and easy. Definitely recommend this service and will rent again.

I can not rate this company high enough. I don't own a credit card, only a debit card, and it was literally impossible to find a company to rent from. Stones Rent A Car was suggested to me, which was such a relief. I love to drive, but it can be nerve-wracking when you're in another country, and on the other side of the road, you are constantly concerned about damaging the car. We got a puncture whilst out and about, and I was so worried. Jose and Rosie turned up to help after a quick phone call. I was immediately put at ease, and they brought a replacement car so as not to spoil our day. It didn't cost me anything. I can't speak highly enough about Jos. His service was impeccable, and he was so friendly and kind. It truly made our holiday in Madeira so much nicer! I would gladly recommend this company to anyone looking to deal with kind, honest people.

Great rental! An hour after making an appointment via WhatsApp, we had a brand new (12,000 km mileage) Opel Corsa automatic. Clean and ready to go - for 10 euros, the company delivered the car to our hotel. The formalities took less than 10 minutes. Some time later, an email arrived confirming the terms of the contract and asking via WhatsApp whether everything was OK. The insurance covers everything you need, and the prices are really competitive - we paid ca. 40% less than in another rental company we visited in person. We drove this car for 7 days. At the end we left it in the parking lot at the airport (additional 20 euros) without having to hand over the car in person - we put the key in a special combination padlock, and that's it. I don't think we've ever rented a car so quickly and efficiently. Not even a credit card was needed. Great service! You can always contact them via WhatsApp if necessary, we didn't have to - everything was OK with the car. If we are ever in Madeira again, we will use Stones Rent Car without any hesitation.

Rented a car from them for 4 days in the beginning of September. Got a brand new Dacia Sandero Stepway (341 km). The car got delivered very clean and with a fulll tank of gas (of course you have to give it back the same).I worked for a rental company for 3 years and trust me, they didn’t try to scam me. The price I had in the reservation was the same, got delivered to the hotel and pay cash with no deposit (this should be normal if you pay insurance)I totally recommend them because of the very good prices, new cars and the staff were very nice

This company was amazing! It is always intimidating picking a rental car company when you are from another country (United states). There are so many options and it’s hard to believe their coverage policies. Stones Rent A Car was suggested to me in a Madeira travel group and I am SO happy we went with them. Madeira has some fragile terrain and unfortunately with that comes rock fall. We ran over a rock that had recently fallen as we were coming around a corner. They were so kind about the incident and even provided a replacement vehicle immediately after so we could continue our holiday. We did not have to pay anything for the tow or vehicle damage as it really is COMPLETELY insured. We will use them again and recommend them to all friends going to Madeira. (Picture for evidence)

Rented a very new Kia Picanto from Stones in early August. Probably I should have booked a car with a bigger engine for the steep roads in Madeira, but it was easy to park! Car was in very good condition, very clean, and Stones made the rental process very easy with their full insurance - I was driving away in less than 10 minutes with no unexpected surprises. Rented a Mitsubishi Space star for 2 days. Everything went very well, The car was nice and clean. Jose was really kind, although he didn't know me, he put his trust in me. No deposit was payed, the car was fully covered by the insurance. And it's far the best price for the car - I was really looking for other car rents, but didn't find cheaper, only more expensive ones. So I reccomend him, and next time I will choose him again.
