Fuel Policies

1. Fuel Options:

Customers have two fuel options when renting a car in Madeira:

a. Full to Full: The car is provided to the customer with a full tank of fuel, and it should be returned with a full tank. Customers are responsible for refilling the tank to the same level as when they received the vehicle. If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank, the rental company will charge for the missing fuel at a higher rate per Liter, plus a service fee for refueling.

b. Prepaid Fuel: Customers can purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental. This option allows customers to return the vehicle with any amount of fuel in the tank, without incurring additional fuel charges. However, no refunds will be provided for unused fuel.

2. Fuel Charges:

a. If the customer selects the “Full to Full” option and fails to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, the rental company will charge for the missing fuel at a rate per Liter, which may be higher than the local fuel prices, in addition to a refueling service fee.

b. If the customer selects the “Prepaid Fuel” option and returns the vehicle with fuel remaining in the tank, no refunds will be issued for the unused fuel.

3. Fuel Tank Level at Pickup:

Upon pickup, the rental agent will provide the customer with a vehicle with a full tank of fuel. The fuel level will be noted in the rental agreement. Customers are encouraged to verify the fuel level before leaving the rental location and report any discrepancies to the rental agent.

4. Fuel Types:

Customers are responsible for using the correct type of fuel as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Using the wrong type of fuel may result in damage to the vehicle, and the customer will be liable for any associated costs.

5. Fuelling Locations:

Customers are responsible for refilling the fuel at a reputable fuel station in Madeira. Receipts should be retained as proof of refuelling in case of disputes.

6. Fuel Service Fee:

If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank of fuel, a service fee will be applied in addition to the cost of the missing fuel. The service fee covers the time and resources required to refuel the vehicle.

7. Fuel Charges Payment:

Fuel charges will be billed to the customer’s credit card on file at the end of the rental period or deducted from the prepaid amount if the “Prepaid Fuel” option was selected.

8. Changes to Fuel Policy:

The rental company reserves the right to modify the fuel policy and rates without prior notice. Any changes will be communicated to customers at the time of rental.

9. Customer Responsibility:

It is the customer’s responsibility to comply with the chosen fuel option and return the vehicle in accordance with the agreed-upon fuel level.
